Judy Garland tribute comes to town:
Details are now available for this season's eagerly-awaited sparkling Dinner Theatre show at Harrogate Theatre. Now in its third year, the event promises to give audiences once again a sophisticated evening of musical entertainment plus a high quality accompanying meal, all served in the upstairs Studio theatre.
This year's show is a tribute to the music and life of the legendary Judy Garland. Written and performed by Isabelle Georges and Frédérik Steenbrink, Judy and Me is a musical journey through the career of an iconic entertainer.
Poignant and heartfelt, the show includes some of Judy Garland's most memorable numbers and offers audiences a chance to see one of the world's greatest entertainer through the eyes of two European performers.
Judy and Me has enjoyed success throughout Europe including sell-out seasons in Paris, Holland and at the Edinburgh Festival.
Isabelle Georges' love of music started at a young age when she discovered American musicals and performers such as Gene Kelly, Ginger Rogers and, of course, Judy Garland. At the age of 15 she performed at the world famous Cabaret des Champs-Elysees in her native Paris. More major musical roles across the continent followed such as Singin' in the Rain, La Perichole and Titanic – the Musical. Recently, she recorded the English and French album December Songs, written for Carnegie Hall's 100th anniversary in New York. Judy and Me is her personal tribute to the entertainer who inspired her to become a performer.
Frédérik Steenbrink is a Dutch songwriter and performer. He recently played the part of Frederic Chopin in Van Veen's new play Chopin, Chanson de Daniel in Paris. Frederik has created his own shows and has recorded and produced two albums and toured throughout France, Belgium and Holland. Within Judy and Me, Frederik has composed the tribute song La Voix de mes Reves (The Voice in my Dreams).
